Ceramic Pestle & Mortar designed and made by Lily Pearmain

Lily handmakes and glazes her pieces in her South London Studio. Each piece is a one-off so is totally individual.

The ergonomically designed Pestle & Mortar is designed for grinding herbs and spices in the kitchen - or can be used as a decorative piece.

Lily recommends that her pieces are hand washed, but they are also dishwasher safe.

"Good pots are going to be used and loved and cared for, they're going to find their way into people's daily life and find meaning and purpose through that." - Lily Pearmain

About the brand

Lily Pearmain is a self taught potter living and working in London and has been creating her functional wheel thrown tableware for four years. Lily emphasises that her work is ‘skills and materials driven’, allowing herself to be led by the clay and potting wheel she works with - claiming that she is not a designer, but a maker. She draws her inspiration from British studio ceramics and the desire to make beautiful and strong pots.

Lily sources all of her clay from the UK and is mindful of using ethically sourced glazes for her pots using materials from the UK where possible. Each of her pieces are hand thrown and glazed. Lily hand dips each of her pieces, leaving her fingerprints behind as a totally unique maker's mark.
